Instructions:

  1. If using dried bean curd sheets, soak them in warm water until they become soft and pliable. If using pre-cut or pre-packaged bean curd sheets, you can skip this step.
  2. Prepare the marinade sauce by combining soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger (if desired) in a bowl. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Lay a piece of bean curd sheet on a clean surface. Brush or spoon a small amount of the marinade sauce onto the sheet, spreading it evenly.
  4. Fold the sides of the bean curd sheet inward to enclose the sauce and roll it tightly from one end to the other, creating a cylinder shape. Repeat this process for all the bean curd sheets.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok for frying. The oil should be deep enough to submerge the rolls completely.
  6. Carefully place the bean curd rolls into the hot oil, making sure they are fully submerged. Fry them until they turn golden brown and become crispy. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Once fried, remove the rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve the vegetarian fried bean curd sheets as a side dish, appetizer, or main course. They can be enjoyed on their own or dipped in your favorite sauce, such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce.
